Hi Ladies-
Get your calendars out!  We have so much going on right now with our Club, it's pretty amazing.  Just like all of you!
There's a lot here.  Scroll to the bottom for the summary.
You can shop and support our charities both this week and next week.  So get your wallet ready, too, lol!
Tonight, treat yourself to a makeover from the Trish McEvoy artists at Bluemercury in Sawgrass Village.
It's not too late to make an appointment!  Call 904-280-2115.  They can squeeze you in, sometime between 4 and 8pm.
They are also having a draw for an awesome gift basket.
I could use that.
Not really.  I would use that.
I have too much makeup already, but that has never stopped me from buying something new!
Tonight will be no exception.
We'll hang around and get drinks and nibbles at Nona Blue, right across the mall.
Next week, Wednesday November 15th, Katherine Way is allowing US to be a part of their private shopping event.
10% of proceeds will go to PVWC, Gabriel House, and First Coast Women’s Services.
There will be refreshments and beverages along with FIRST PEEK at their clearance items for their upcoming warehouse sale.  WAY before anyone else has even seen it.
The shopping event is 4 - 8 pm at their corporate office.  Tell your friends!!
Address for the 15th is:
11653 Central Pkwy
Jacksonville FL 32224
I was wondering where the heck that is, so I looked it up on the map.  It's right by I-295 and Beach Blvd., so it looks easy to get to.
The clothes are super cute.  Most of them are UPF 50+ and there's a whole golf collection as well as dresses, shorts, and more in fun prints and activewear fabrics.
In between those two events is our November General Meeting on the evening of Monday the 13th at Lulu's Waterfront Grille.
Put $10 in the kitty, and order your own supper.  And drinks, too!  They always take great care of us.
Don't forget a sweater because sometimes we are seated outside on the patio.
Don't forget your wrapped Angel Gifts for the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind if you took an angel from the tree in October.  Remember to put your Angel ID number on it.  If you are not able to attend the meeting, please call Sherry Gallo at 547-2942 to coordinate pick up.
RSVP for the meeting by E-vite to pay at the door, or go here to pay online with PayPal.
We are less than one month away from the Oh, What Fun! Holiday Event at Sawgrass Village on Saturday, December 2nd.  Our Spirit of Giving raffle is our biggest fundraiser of the year and we need your help!
You should get an e-mail invitation today to sign up at Signup Genius.  Or you can click the link to sign up for the holiday event.
We need everyone in the club to come out and work for at least one shift.  We need so may volunteers!  What is on the sign-up page is the minimum that we need to make the event successful.  If there is a spot you want, and it's full, (or you just don't want to do it online) e-mail event chair Teri Ellis at teriellispv@gmail.com or call her at 904-945-5372 and she will work it out!
Props to Teri for all of her hard work setting this event up last year and chairing it again this year!
But wait, there's more!
Like my infomercial style?
Teri is having a cocktail party and planning session for all of the volunteers at her house on Thursday, November 16th at 6:30 pm.  Bring any able-bodied adult that you can get to help you out and volunteer!  It's open to everyone we know, not just members.
Teri's address:
332 Ponte Vedra Blvd.
Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 32082
Whew, that's a lot!  Thanks for hanging in there with me!
[I learned that this, below, stands for 'Too Long, Didn't Read' and it's cyberslang for "just tell me the highlights."  We used to call it the Reader's Digest version.  Or the Executive Summary.]
Tonight!  Bluemercury for makeovers:  call 904-280-2115 for an appointment if you don't have one.
Mon. Nov. 13th, 6:00:  General Meeting at Lulu's Waterfront.  RSVP here or by e-vite.  Bring Angel Gifts.
Wed. Nov. 15th, 4-8 pm:  Katherine Way warehouse sale, 11653 Central Pkwy, Jax - refreshments served!
Thurs. Nov. 16th, 6:30:  cocktail party for volunteers at Teri's house, 332 Ponte Vedra Blvd.
Dec. 2:  Oh What Fun! Holiday Event at Sawgrass Village.  Sign up for your volunteer shift here.

Hi Everyone!
Did you have a fun Halloween?  I have been eating way too much leftover candy.  It's a good thing we keep it locked in the freezer.
My little one is getting bigger.  No more princesses or kitty costumes.  This year she was the Grim Reaper.  Kinda funny-sad for me.
It's nice that the weather has cooled off and we didn't have to run the a/c on Halloween like last year!
It's also a good time to fire up the oven.  Or the crock-pot.   Or any other appliance that you use for making food.
Because you need to make something to bring to the Member Potluck this Saturday.  I can't wait to see all the yummy food that everyone brings.
Last year someone brought amazing peanut butter brownie-type bars.  I don't know who it was, but if you are reading this, I hope they will appear on the buffet again!
We also need some helpers, for set-up before and clean-up after.  If you could pitch in just a little, it will make for quick work for everyone.  Sue Hartman has generously opened up her home to hostess the party, so we need to hold up our end.  The party starts at 6:30.  If you can come at 5:30 or even 6, or plan on staying a bit late to tidy up afterwards, that will help a lot!
If you want to help, please e-mail me.  If you want to attend and didn't get or somehow lost the e-vite, you can also e-mail me.  Or phone me.  Or text.  Whatever, it all works.
If you haven't opened up your e-vite yet, you might get a call from me.  So even if you can't come, please RSVP so I know the invitation isn't in your SPAM folder.
If you haven't made an appointment at Bluemercury yet, there is still time.
Call 904-280-2115 to make an appointment with one of 6 Trish McEvoy makeup artists who will spend time with you personally on holiday make-up looks, or whatever it is that you need.
A portion of all Trish McEvoy sales that evening will be donated to the club.  It's not too early to start thinking about your Christmas list!
Or treat yourself.
There's some cool stuff in the Trish McEvoy line, including a palette that you can completely customize with your own mix of powders, whether they are eyeshadow, blush, highlighter, setting powder, anything!  There's even a cute little case to hold the palette plus the other goodies you need for your whole face.
Bluemercury is in Sawgrass Village, btw, in case you didn't know.  It's kind of across from Nona Blue, on the corner.  If you went to the Holiday Event last year, we had our hospitality booth set up in front of what is now their door.
Don't forget that this year's Holiday Event is on Saturday, December 2nd!
I hope to see as many of you as possible this Saturday night!

Hi Everyone!
Did you have a great weekend?
We tried to go to the beach.
Brrr!  The water has gotten cold faster than I remember last year.  Or maybe it's just because it was low tide?  Isn't it warmer at high tide?  Does somebody know this?
So we went to the [heated!] pool instead.  :D
Then I came home and bought my ticket to the Pusser's Wine Event.  Do you have yours yet?  It's this Thursday, and it's only $25 for 2 drinks plus appetizers.  They put out an amazing spread, buffet-style, for us last year when we held Trivia night there.  If you haven't eaten there before, this is a great way to try a little bit of everything that they offer, and discover how delicious their food is.
Also how to get into the place, because I always see the patio from the road but the entrance is a bit hidden, but easy to find once you actually turn in.  Maybe we'll have some nice cool weather and get to check the patio out?
They also have a pretty good, by which I mean amazing, cocktail selection.  I don't know if their famous Painkiller (available in levels 1 to 3,or maybe 4?) will be part of our selection, but if you have someone else to drive you home, then I highly recommend trying one of those.
If you don't have your ticket yet, get one here.  http://www.pontevedrawomansclub.com/EventsCalendar.html
Do it right now, and you can sneak it in under the wire.  Before you go to bed Tuesday night, at the VERY very latest.  And if you end up bringing an extra pal along, we will not turn him or her away - we will accept payment at the door.  If you want to pay at the door, e-mail waysandmeans@pontevedrawomansclub.com to let them know, so they can include you in their headcount.
It's also your last chance to contribute to our basket for the cancer society auction.  Just bring your stuff with you Pusser's and Sharon Jones will collect it.  The items in the basket (ok, a bucket, really) will be donated to kids undergoing cancer treatment to keep them occupied while they are in the hospital undergoing treatments.
I can't think of anything sadder than a kid with cancer.
Or anyone more deserving of our donations.
Our basket bucket has an arts and crafts theme, so please open your hearts and wallets and let's fill it up to overflowing for them!
IF you can't make it to Pusser's (now I'm sad for you, because you will miss out on such a nice time hanging out with the ladies) you can contact Sharon Jones to make arrangements for getting the items to her.
Thanks a ton to our Ways and Means VPs, Cindey Nordman and Nancy Marsh, who put this whole event together, and to our PR Chair, Nicole Williams, for the awesome poster and PR work on promoting it.

Hi Everyone,

Can you believe that it's only Wednesday?  This week feels like it will last FOREVER since the last couple were so short - and crazy too!

IF you want to unwind and de-stress,

OR celebrate that it will be Friday Eve,

OR because the weekend can't come soon enough

OR because you, like I, will take any excuse to go out and have a drink with pals,

OR more than one of the above are TRUE,

THEN come and have drinks and nibbles with a few of your Club-mates tomorrow at our Social Hour.

That stuff above is supposed to look like a martini.  Can you see it?  The stem is a bit wonky from this side.

Starting at 5-ish, which means whenever you can get there after you finish your daytime stuff, we'll meet at the penthouse lounge at Casa Marina in Jax Beach.  Here's the address for your GPS:

691 1st St N

Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250

It's between 5th and 6th Ave North.   I might try to bring our big sign, the one from the hallway at the general meeting.  Or not, because it is big and heavy, so no promises.  You will see us with our name tags on.  No RSVP required, just show up and have fun!

Remember back in the early '80s when Trivial Pursuit was the latest craze?  It was invented by Canadians, didja know?  Now we have all kinds of trivia games that have been inspired by it. We will be at Triva Night at Woody's BBQ's THIS SUNDAY from 6-8.

The deadline to RSVP is TOMORROW at noon!  Yikes!  I am guessing there might be a (teeny tiny) grace period.  You don't have to pay to RSVP but you do need to send an e-mail to Nancy and Cindey at waysandmean@pontevedrawomansclub.com.  We have to give our head count to Woody.   If you sent your RSVP to membership before, that's OK, we still have it.  Dinner (your choice of 3 options) is included for $25 each or $45 per couple, and you will pay there.  It is a large, complete meal, you only buy drinks.  A good bargain!

A rack of ribs is enough to convince my husband to go just about anyplace.  Woody's is one of his faves, too.  Look out, his cohorts call him Wikipedia.  As least I know someone on my team will be able to answer the sports and history questions, because it sure won't be me!

See you Thursday and / or Sunday, whichever day(s) you can make it.  Both, I hope!

Happy Friday Eve!

I really hope that everyone managed to stay high & dry through the weather!  Not everyone was as lucky as we were to excape unscathed.  I feel a bit guilty for having so much fun in Atlanta while so many were suffering.  For those that were impacted, I am so truly sorry.  If anyone would like to sign up to help, www.volunteerflorida.org can hook you up.

September is National Library Card Signup Month - just in case you were paying attention to other news.  We are very grateful to the Ponte Vedra Public Library for hosting our monthly board meetings.  If you haven't had a chance to check it out, they are in front of the Winn-Dixie plaza on A1A.  They have a lot more than books!  You can sign out DVDs, read magazines, research digital databases, and - GET THIS! - they have a totally digital library so you can sign out digital books and audio books - for FREE!  That is my favorite price!  Go now and get your library card, if you haven't already, to make your tablet even more useful.  If you appreciate them, you might want to sign up for $25 to be a 'Friend of the Library.'

Our club year is kicking off with our first general meeting THIS MONDAY.  We are having a great salad with grilled chicken for lunch.  When they served it last year, it reminded me of the Chinese Chicken Salad from the Cheesecake Factory.  Yum!

Tonya Snowden, Social Chair, has put together a wonderful line-up of meetings, including a few new venues.

Lynne Sumner and Lisa Hayes, VPs of Programs, are getting a great speaker line-up together.

This month, Tom Kinney will be speaking on Computer Hacking and Identity Theft.  I'm looking at you, Equifax!

Most importantly, at this meeting, we will be voting on our by-laws update.  I have attached them in a document that shows the changes and there is also a separate summary of the changes.  Yes, I made 'Cliff's Notes' for you!  Note that the dues changes will take effect for the 2018-19 Club year.

The sign-up deadline is NOON TODAY so if you haven't already sent in your payment, now is the time.  And if you haven't renewed your club membership, bring cash or your chequebook.  In fact, bring cash anyway, for our 50/50 draw, so you can help support our charities!

If you somehow can't make it to Monday's meeting, because WORK, I get it.  Blow off some steam after work, or commiserate about storm damage, or BOTH, with fabulous happy hour specials at the penthouse lounge at Casa Marina in Jax Beach.  For your GPS:

691 1st St N

Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250

It's between 5th and 6th Ave North.  We are meeting for our Club Social Hour ONE WEEK FROM TODAY, on Thursday, September 21st, around 5-ish or whenever you can get there after your daytime stuff is done.  You will also be in the know come December, when our general meeting will be there.

The fun doesn't stop then!  On Sunday, September 24th, from 6-8pm, it's time for TRIVIA at Woody's BBQ in Ponte Vedra, on the corner of A1A and Solana (by the Winn-Dixie, near the Library!).  Nancy March and Cindey Nordman, 3rd VPs Ways and Means, have put together a great night and a great deal.  Bring your whole gang for dinner and trivia, just $25/person or $45/couple.  There will be real CASH money for winners, so put on your thinking caps.

Go to www.pontevedrawomansclub.com to sign up for any (ALL!) of our events.  We have a new website coming soon, too, that will make it even easier!

How is everyone?

Our New Member Cocktail Reception is Thursday night at 6:00 at Teri's house.  That's tomorrow!

Just in case you hadn't heard already.  Five times.

Or maybe you forgot because you're super busy, so this is your reminder.

Please bring a new member to the event if you know any.  You, or your prospective, could win a prize!  Cindey Nordman has generously donated a $100 gift certificate to Apropos.

Yeah, prizes!  Who knows what else there will be?

Oh, uh, free wine and nibbles, that's what.  What's a party without drinks and food?

I have been helping Sharon Jones, VP of Membership, and the rest of the board get it all planned, in-between madly texting all my old pals in Houston, where I lived for 5 years, to see if they are OK.  Fortunately, they are dry, even though they are trapped inside.  They say it's like they're on an island, but not the good tropical holiday kind.  Our hearts go out to everyone impacted by the hurricane.

In other news, here's a few of our upcoming events for you to put in your calendar:

PVWC Trivia Night on Sunday, Sept. 24th, 6-8 pm, at Woody's BBQ in PVB.  It's only $25 for a full dinner and $45 per couple, so bring your significant other.  There will be CA$H prizes for the winners!

A big plate of ribs will be enough to entice my husband to join me.  What about yours?

Our first general meeting kicks things off on Sept. 18th at 11:30 at Sawgrass.

Don't forget our member social hour is on the 21st at 5-ish at Casa Marina in Jax Beach.

They have a rooftop lounge and happy hour specials that look really good.  Almost as good as the view from their roof!

I might eat too many sliders at $2 each.  It's easier than cooking dinner, right?  Hmm... I wonder if I can get some to go?

Wow!  Can you believe summer is almost over?

Our club board has been busy at work all summer getting the next year planned.

Did you think we were sitting by the pool, drinking Tom Collinses?

I really hope that's what you have been doing.  Invite me next time?

We are about to kick off the 2017-2018 Club year with our New Member cocktail party.  If you joined the club in the past year, please come and get to know us!

If you know any potential Club members, please bring them!  Or at least make sure they are invited.  They can ask for me or Sharon when they get there.

Note new date:
Thursday, August 31st
Teri Ellis's house
6-7:30 pm
RSVP to Sharon Jones

Super big thanks to Teri Ellis, past president, for hosting this event at her home, and especially our FABULOUS VP Membership, Sharon Jones, for putting this event together.

Our first general meeting is on the horizon!  Mark your calendar for 11:30 am on September 18th at Sawgrass Country Club golf clubhouse. Look for an invitation coming soon.

Here is a little secret.  We're working on a new and improved website.  It's coming soon!

I am looking forward to seeing everyone after our summer break!
