In memoriam of Louise Gentry, past PVWC president

Louise Gentry passed away May 14, 2020, in her home at 512 Le Master Dr., Ponte Vedra Beach. Mrs. Gentry was a resident of Ponte Vedra and member of the Ponte Vedra Inn and Club for 37 years.
She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Glenda and Rick Butler; her sister and brother in law, Adelle and Wendell Hatcher (Virginia); step son, Randall Gentry (Florida); step daughter, Cheryl Kinder (California); grandchildren, Michael Herbaugh and wife, Cheryl (Virginia), Clay Herbaugh and wife, Linda Ge (Virginia), Greg Charpentier and wife, Stephanie (Louisiana), Bryce Gentry and wife, Kelly (Hawaii), Hunter Gentry (Florida), and Eric Kinder and husband, Chad McCord (California); great grandchildren, Declan Herbaugh (Virginia), Tricia and Megan Charpentier (Louisiana), and Owen Gentry (Hawaii). She also had several nieces and nephews, their families and longtime friend and companion, John Layton of Jacksonville.
Louise is predeceased by her husband, Col. C.E. (Gene) Gentry; daughter, Claudia Herbaugh; son, Maurice Talbot; parents, Adele and Samuel Winsboro; and brother, Stuart Winsboro.
Mrs. Gentry enjoyed many years of travel and responsibility as the wife of her army officer husband. Many enjoyed the stories she told of her travels and the many dignitaries she was privileged to encounter. In Ponte Vedra, her many friends were dear to her and she was often referred to as "the hostess with the mostest". She played bridge and Mah Jongg, was past president of the Ponte Vedra Woman's Club and a longtime member of Palms Presbyterian Church. She will be missed.
