September is National Library Card Signup Month - just in case you were paying attention to other news.  We are very grateful to the Ponte Vedra Public Library for hosting our monthly board meetings.  If you haven't had a chance to check it out, they are in front of the Winn-Dixie plaza on A1A.  They have a lot more than books!  You can sign out DVDs, read magazines, research digital databases, and - GET THIS! - they have a totally digital library so you can sign out digital books and audio books - for FREE!  That is my favorite price!  Go now and get your library card, if you haven't already, to make your tablet even more useful.  If you appreciate them, you might want to sign up for $25 to be a 'Friend of the Library.'

Our club year is kicking off with our first general meeting THIS MONDAY.  We are having a great salad with grilled chicken for lunch.  When they served it last year, it reminded me of the Chinese Chicken Salad from the Cheesecake Factory.  Yum!

 

Tonya Snowden, Social Chair, has put together a wonderful line-up of meetings, including a few new venues. 

 

Lynne Sumner and Lisa Hayes, VPs of Programs, are getting a great speaker line-up together. 

 

This month, Tom Kinney will be speaking on Computer Hacking and Identity Theft.  I'm looking at you, Equifax!

 

Most importantly, at this meeting, we will be voting on our by-laws update.  I have attached them in a document that shows the changes and there is also a separate summary of the changes.  Yes, I made 'Cliff's Notes' for you!  Note that the dues changes will take effect for the 2018-19 Club year. 

 

The sign-up deadline is NOON TODAY so if you haven't already sent in your payment, now is the time.  And if you haven't renewed your club membership, bring cash or your chequebook.  In fact, bring cash anyway, for our 50/50 draw, so you can help support our charities!

The fun doesn't stop then!  On Sunday, September 24th, from 6-8pm, it's time for TRIVIA at Woody's BBQ in Ponte Vedra, on the corner of A1A and Solana (by the Winn-Dixie, near the Library!).  Nancy March and Cindey Nordman, 3rd VPs Ways and Means, have put together a great night and a great deal.  Bring your whole gang for dinner and trivia, just $25/person or $45/couple.  There will be real CASH money for winners, so put on your thinking caps.
